ORT'S PEDAGOGICAL COORDINATOR - MEET HADASSA SHOORBA
Come meet Ort's Pedagogical Coordinator as she sits with eighth graders - Oria and Tommy.
1. ORIA & TOMMY: How are you personally managing with the current Covid-19 outbreak
HADASSA: It’s not easy. It’s difficult being alone for such a long time. I like being with people, but it also has a lot of benefits. I get to learn and study a lot.
2. ORIA & TOMMY : And professionally?
HADASSA: Except for the huge downside that is not being able to see the students, I’ve learnt a lot and acquired lots of new tools for education, thanks to a lot of time and effort.
3. ORIA & TOMMY : Do you like being an educator?
HADASSA: I love being a teacher and I love being an educator, A big part of that is thanks to the wonderful students. I’m assuming that if it wasn’t fun to teach, I wouldn’t be teaching.
4. ORIA & TOMMY: If you weren’t a teacher what would you like to do?
HADASSA: I think I would be fully focused on my Pilates studio.
5. ORIA & TOMMY: Do you think that teaching in ZOOM is good for the students?
HADASSA: No, definitely not. It’s terrible, abysmal, hard and very unfair.
6. ORIA & TOMMY: What is your role in the administration?
HADASSA: It’s called the “Pedagogical Coordinator.” I oversee tests. I make the schedule and a few other responsibilities.
7. ORIA & TOMMY: What do you miss most about not being in school?
HADASSA: The energy. The liveliness of the place. The laughs. The conversations. The actual eye contact.
8. ORIA & TOMMY: Did you have any students that impressed you? What did they do?
HADASSA: Oh yes, a lot. I learn a lot from my students.
9. ORIA & TOMMY: Did you have any students that disappointed you? What did you do?
HADASSA: Hmm, disappoint is kind of a strong word. Although it is a bit hard for me to accept the lack of gratitude. Sometimes, the students take for granted the work I put into them. I would be happy if we got a little more appreciation.
10.ORIA & TOMMY: How long have you been a teacher?
HADASSA: Oh, a long time, 12 years. Although, I have to say that I started out really young.
11.ORIA & TOMMY: Do you have any subjects you like to teach the most?
HADASSA: Ah yes, literature and I used to really like teaching PE.
12.ORIA & TOMMY: Do you have any message you would like to pass on to the students?
HADASSA: Yes, of course. First of all, this period of time is difficult, but it’s going to end. Use this time to teach yourself maybe cooking, dancing maybe read something interesting, things that you would never do in your regular day to day life. This time is a gift and you should view it as a gift.
